Peonies Passion

It's "I heart Macro" Sunday over at studio waterstone again. I've been waiting for my peonies to open, watching them everyday, patiently waiting. Yesterday, finally one started to open it's beautiful petals. It was also one of those days that poured rain off and on. I thought taking some macro shots with water droplets on the petals would make for an interesting photo. This is what I captured.

I also have this weird fascination with moss, especially when it grows on the sides of trees. I have this tree in my backyard that has the most vibrant shade of chartreuse green moss!

Also, when I was about to head back inside, I noticed this wild pattern of rain and moisture left behind on my screen door!

Don't forget to click on the link below to see all the other wonderful macro entries.

  1. Wow, these are awesome. I don't what kind of camera you have, but it is golden. That is some killer definition. I wish my digital Olympus would bring out that kind of clarity and color. I mean, it does good, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't do THAT good.

  7. Thank you all for the wonderful compliments. I use a Canon Rebel XTI camera with interchangeable lenses. I have a separate macro lens ( it's huge) that allows me to get within inches of my subject. I just love it!

  8. The pics are amazing. Between the water drops, the richness of the color, and the incredible color you get, I'm almost speechless. I love peonies. They are my absolute favorite and I haven't been able to grow them since I moved to the Deep South. I am so happy to see that you captured an ant in one of the flower shots. I was just thinking about ants crawling on peonies yesterday!

  16. Each and every one of your photos is absolutely captivating. I adore the raindrops, like little diamonds, glinting on the surfaces.
I have a moss-fascination also. Beautiful, all of it.
